We’re proud to announce the terrific trio of charities benefitting from the summer round of The Tapestry Trust. They are: Young Lives vs Cancer; The Rob Burrow Centre for MND, and The Clink Charity.
The premise behind The Trust, where we make donations based on personal nominations and votes from the team, is to raise both funds and awareness for causes in some way close to our core.
Young Lives vs Cancer aim to help in six ways…
Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be terrifying, but comprehending the situation when a child or young person receives the news can be fear-filled and overwhelming to all concerned. Young Lives vs Cancer provides support to affected families and champions young voices to decision makers across the UK.
Rob Burrow Centre for MND
The nation journeyed with Rugby League hero Rob Burrow as he tackled life with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) until his untimely death this summer. His courage and the unquestionable support from his family and friends continues to be truly inspirational, which is why we want to support his legacy.
It’s no secret that Rob’s dream was to have a specialist centre which would give people living with the MND and their families the best possible care and support. The Leeds Hospital Charity need to raise £6.8 million to build the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease in the city.
The Clink Charity
In their own words, The Clink Charity is “more than just porridge” – and that’s the understatement of the year! Alberto Crisci MBE, the then catering manager at HMP High Down in Surrey, saw the potential of those working in the kitchen and introduced accredited City & Guilds NVQ training. That was 14 years ago.
Since then, they’ve gone from strength to strength, vastly reducing reoffending rates, whilst creating incredible opportunities, as well as culinary classics on both a small and grand scale. The charity continues to face (and overcome) challenges as it endeavours to support the talented people in its path and give them a second chance.
The Tapestry Trust is dedicated to making a difference, so please take a moment to find out more about each charity.
