The Next Normal

Have you wondered what people’s hopes and fears are in today’s world and how they have shifted over time? What do people worry about now and how has our definition of success changed from what it was a decade or so ago?

At Tapestry, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Paramount answering all these questions (and much more!), using longitudinal data dating back as far as 2012, across 10 countries around the world.

With so much uncertainty in the world, it’s perhaps unsurprising that stress levels are on the rise, with nearly 1 in 2 adults claiming to feel high levels of stress (representing a sharp increase since 2017!). What’s interesting is how people respond to this and what they choose to focus on. From escaping to another world through watching movies, giving the latest exercise class trend a go, to dancing it out to feel-good-tunes, people are finding all sorts of creative ways to respond to manage stress.
