We’re not sure if having pride in Pride makes us sound a bit smug, but why not?! Tapestry is a firm supporter of Pride Month but that is only the beginning. We’ve forged a great ongoing relationship with Pride in Surrey, and we’re sponsoring their Pride Plus area, again this year.
Pride in Surrey’s Director, Craig Spencer says: “We are so pleased that Tapestry have chosen to sponsor our pride plus area for the second year running and we really appreciate the ongoing support from the
Pride in Surrey may be celebrating its fifth anniversary, but the small team behind the event have had their work cut out in the past twelve months. Anyone who has kept an eye on our News pages will know that they suffered a near catastrophic loss a year ago, when the warehouse containing everything they owned, was razed to the ground in May 2023. It didn’t stop them running a fantastic event in Reigate four months later.
This year Tapestry’s very own Quality & Delivery Director, Stewart Thomson, was nominated as an LGBTQ+ Community Champion with SES Water at the recent Pride in Surrey Pride Awards 2024. The Awards recognised and honoured those who have made a remarkable impact within Surrey’s LGBTQ+ community. There’s no stopping us: when Pride Month is officially over, we’ll be gearing up for Pride in Surrey 2024, which takes place in Stoke Park, Guildford, on Saturday 21st September. Hopefully by then the sun will be shining, and whatever the weather, the rainbows will be out, loud and proud.
There’s still time to take part: as a volunteer, sponsor, or simply as a reveller. You can buy tickets for Pride in Surrey, here. And if you can’t wait until then to take part in the fun, here’s what’s happening with Pride in Surrey for Pride Month. There’s still time to join the Parade!
While we have a close affiliation with the Surrey team, of course there are amazing Pride events taking place all across the UK – and further afield! To find out more about the celebrations around the country, see The Pink News, or Pride Events.
